"Leela and the Genestalk" is the one hundred and thirty-sixth episode of Futurama, the twenty-second of the seventh production season and the ninth of the tenth broadcast season.
Production
By 1 August, 2013, Comedy Central had released a two-minute preview clip featuring Fry sell the Planet Express ship to pay for an operation for Leela. [2]
On 6 August, it was revealed that the characters Finn and Jake, from the animated TV series Adventure Time, would appear in the episode. [3]

- John DiMaggio, the voice of Bender, provides the voice of Jake in Adventure Time.
Continuity
- The professor refers to the ship as Bessie. [2] He named it Bessie in "2-D Blacktop".
- The salesman that Fry sells the ship to mentions the common cold. [2] The common cold was previously mentioned in "Cold Warriors".
