Additional Info
Allusions
- Matt Groening's and David X. Cohen's heads' new show, "Futurella", is a self-parody of itself, down to the same opening sequence and the fact that it was cancelled before its time.
- The costume that Leela wears for the Comic-Con costume contest is Princess Leia from Star Wars.
- The speaker for the costume contest is wearing a Mario costume from the "Mario Bros." video game franchise.
- A contestant for the Comic-con costume contest wore a Spider-man costume.
- Lrrr watches an episode of "The Scary Door" which is a reference to "The Twilight Zone"
- There is a "War Of The Worlds" reference that includes Orson Welles recreating his telecast from the film.
- During the fake broadcast of an invasion, Orson Welles says, "We inturrupt our program of the Jonas Brothers and their Orchestra...". A reference to the pop band, The Jonas Brothers and possibly their 3D concert which included an orchestra.
- Lrrr had gotten Ndnd a J.J. Abrams mask.
Trivia
- Once again, Maurice LaMarche reprises his Orson Welles impression and his parody of Welles' infamous "Frozen Peas" recording session, having previously reprised this impression for such diverse projects as the Brain in Pinky and the Brain and Welles himself in the film Ed Wood and the TV shows The Critic, and The Simpsons.
Continuity
- At Comic-Con 3010, Lrrr states that he recognizes Leela from somewhere; in response, Leela says that she was in his mouth at one time. A reference to the event in "The Problem with Popplers".
- At the Comic-Con costume contest, there is someone dress up as Yivo from "Beast With A Billion Backs".
- At the Comic-Con costume contest, there is someone dressed up as Edna, Zoidberg's love from "Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love".
- The cross-species dresser uses the word Popplers in this episode, which has never been heard since its premier in "The Problem with Popplers".
- The army, led by Zapp Brannigan before surrendering to Lrrr, are wearing the same army uniforms seen since "War is the H-Word".
- Bender uses his left eye as a broadcasting camera once again, which he used previously in "When Aliens Attack".
Goofs
- At Omicron Persei 8, Lrrr is watching "The Scary Door" although we learned in "When Aliens Attack" that it takes 1000 years for televised programs to reach the planet from Earth.
- However, it's possible that in the 31st century, there is technology that allows televised programs to reach across solar systems almost instantly... even though it would break certain laws of physics.
- It is stated in a commentary that the idea is that "Old Light" moves at the rate, but ever since scientists increased the speed of light, "New Light" moves at this increased speed. This is what allows spaceships to travel so quickly, and television programs to arrive on Omicron Persei 8 with little delay.
