Production Season 3 was the third season of Futurama during the original run, and with 22 episodes, also the largest production season of the original run. It was the largest season until season 6, which has 26 episodes.
Broadcastwise, season 3 was, together with season 4, the most unordered aired season. Most episodes were aired as part of broadcast season 3, while the others in broadcast season 4, save for one ("The Route of All Evil") that made its way to broadcast season 5. This explains why its original run lasts over one and a half year, something very unusual for a season.
Plot development
Season 3 quickly lays out some terms, which will be recurring themes later on in the show. Amy Wong gets hooked up with Kif Kroker, Philip J. Fry learns more about his past and Bender Bending Rodríguez attempts his dreams of being a folk singer and becoming a chef.
