Like its predecessor, The Simpsons, Futurama's writers and voice actors are constantly inventing new words.

Overview

The words said on Futurama don't always exist in a standard dictionary. Several words have been invented by the writers and ad-libbed by the actors, creating new words and terminology for us:


A

Ax
inquire, question; derived from the Old English "ask."
Axe-hole
pun on the term "asshole", used when Bender was hit in the back by an axe.

Blorg
akin to "yes" in alien language. Coined by Bernilla in Colorama.
Blowfully
In an exceptionally poor fashion. Terribly. Probably comes from "it blows woefully".

Another way to express "duh".

Bumbledy-boop
Another way to say "butt".

Burglarsonarceny
A crime invented by Bender. A portmanteau of "burglary", "arson" and "larceny".

Cellphone-Telephone
A lengthy (and redundant) way to refer to a cellular telephone, unlike the elegant phrase "cellular telephone".

Clool
Another way to express "cool".

Cockatieling
Used when Zoidberg raises his head fin.

Crack Slam
An action wherein a person drops his/her pants, grasps a telephone receiver between his/her buttocks, and hangs up. According to the Professor, this is the rudest way possible to hang up, and was performed by Hermes. (The Beast with a Billion Backs

A person who has been thawed out of a Cryo-Tube or other forms of freezing for prolonged life.

E

Earthican
Someone from the planet Earth, most likely derived from the word "American".
Elbow Talons
One of Leela's mutations. Skin-covered spikes that grow down from her elbows. These can be and usually are trimmed.
Electromatter
A substance not of our universe.
Extremeiest
Coined by Fry when describing Slurm Loco.

F

Fl'uh
Another way to express "d'uh".

Flingle, Glorg and Blorx, also Gloob
The numbers One, Two and Three, also Half in Omicronian language.
Fonfon ru
A term for Amphibiosan marriage partner. According to Kif, the term's literal translation to English is "one who does not sleep with my superior officer".

Fonfon rubok
The ceremony where the fonfon rus are joined together. Similar to a wedding.

Footswear
To keep a promise by standing on one foot.

Frontbutt
How Hermes refers to his posterior after his head is replaced backwards. The creators expressed in the commentary that they expect the phrase "Kiss my frontbutt" to catch on.

The name that Fry gives his hair when it is "all frizzy".

Futurama
Anything and everything that is witnessed in a series of science fiction TV episodes, comics, films, and other media. Usually revolves around the adventures of around Fry, Leela and Bender, and occasionally Amy, Hermes, Zoidberg and the Professor.

A new word meaning a combination of "genital" and "tentacle".

A deep sleep, similar to a bear's winter hibernation. Useful for long space flights.

Innoguiltycent
Something to plead in a court of law instead of "guilty" or "innocent". Bender pleaded not innoguiltycent in the New New York v. Bender case of 3011.

From the context in which it was used, this word probably means unwilling to bow to pressure (of union strikes) - intransigent.

Kamikazbee
Combination of "kamikaze" and "bee"

Male Jelly
A substance excreted by Decapodian males to fertilize eggs left by the females.
Meatbag
A term referring to Humans (or organic creatures in general), may be a racial slur.

A phrase meaning chill out. A shortened form of "mellow out".

Monsterpus
A phrase used to describe Yivo. Appears to be a combination of "monster" and "octopus", referring to Yivo's many tentacles.

The study of murder.

Nakeder
To appear or become more naked

Nerdlinger
A term used to refer to someone who bothers to translate AL1, especially if English isn't their native language, as they would then have to translate it further into their native tongue. Nerdlinger can also be used as a term for Futurama fans, much as "Trekkie" is used for Star Trek fans. The term originated from The Simpsons episode "Homer Goes to College".
No Shklit
A highly offensive term veiled in reference to the terms Shklee, Shklim, and Shkler, indicating surprise, disbelief, or sarcasm.

O

Orphanarium
Used in the name of the Cookieville Minimum-Security Orphanarium. Same meaning as orphanage (3ACV06).

P

People hose
The name used by the Futurama production staff for the program that inserts incidental characters into groups or crowds. This "hose" occasionally places more than one of an individual into the scene. It mostly contains unnamed characters, and characters known only by one feature such as Crack Addict, Mayor's Secretary, 21st Century Girl and Neutral President, in a variety of new colours.

A phrase to express disgust.

Rage Dump
An expression meaning that someone needs to either vent their frustrations or possibly relax. "Take a rage dump" may be analogous to "chill out".

Sandcrabbing
Zoidberg's crabwalking fleeing, usually a cry of "Whoop-Whoop-Whoop-Whoop" is added.
