Nichelle Nichols is an American actress, singer and voice artist. Her most famous role is that of communications officer Lieutenant Uhura aboard the USS Enterprise on Star Trek, as well as the succeeding motion pictures, where her character was eventually promoted in Starfleet to the rank of commander. For Futurama, Nichols voiced herself in the episode "Anthology of Interest". She later returned in the episode "Where No Fan Has Gone Before" alongside her costars from Star Trek.
