Lauren Tom is an actress who provides the voice of Amy Wong. Active in film, television, and stage, she is also known for her roles as Lena St. Clair in the film The Joy Luck Club and Julie in the TV series Friends. Besides her work in Futurama she has also provided voices in many other animated series (mostly as Asian girls and their mothers), including the voices of Minh and Connie Souphanousiphone in King of the Hill and the voice of Numbah Three/Kuki Sanban and her mother, Genki, in Codename: Kids Next Door. In addition she has appeared in Broadway and Off-Broadway plays.
The DVD and Blu-ray release of Into the Wild Green Yonder includes a bonus feature showcasing the (fictionalized) process by which Futurama is made, titled "How we make Futurama So Good!". It depicts most of the actual steps essential to create the show, however, according to this feature, every single step from the animation process down to all of the voice acting (even the male character parts) are all performed by Lauren Tom by herself.
