Marianne was first seen in a preview clip for broadcast season 10, in February 2013. She was also featured in a piece of concept art [1] and in a promotional picture of her and Zoidberg being mugged by Roberto, [2] both released by Countdown to Futurama, in June, as well as in a preview clip for 7ACV25, [3] released a week before the episode aired.

- Marianne may be a reference to the character Eliza Doolittle, from the 1912 play Pygmalion and the 1964 film My Fair Lady, who has a Cockney accent and sells flowers.
