The Olduvai Gorge is the birthplace of Ryan Seacrest (along with the rest of mankind) and one of the most important prehistoric sites on Earth. It is located in the Great Rift Valley.
The Planet Express crew went digging in the gorge in August of 3010. The Professor discovered Homo Farnsworth, a missing link between apes and the Darwinius Massilae.
Renaming
"Olduvai" is a a mispronunciation of "Oldupai", the Maasai word for the wild sisal plant Sansevieria ehrenbergii, which grows in the gorge. In 2005, the Olduvai Gorge was finally given the correct designation of "Oldupai Gorge". Sometime between the 21st century and the 31st century, however, its original name was reinstated.
