Stephen William Hawking is a British theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who has provided the voice of his own head in a jar on Futurama. Hawking is most noted for his work in the fields of theoretical cosmology and quantum gravity, and provided the theoretical argument for the existence of Hawking radiation emitted by black holes. He was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge from 1979 until 2009, and is a noted advocate of popular science and the existence of extraterrestrial life.
