The Opening Sequence

Description

One of the many title captions

The Sequence starts with the title Futurama and a caption such as "Live From Omicron Persei 8". The Planet Express Ship flys through the title into New New York. The camera shows different parts of the city until it comes to a large screen which shows a real-life cartoon that differs in each episode. The ship then crashes into the screen. In the first season a short chapter called the Cold Opening appears before the Opening Sequence although this doesn't happen for most of the other three seasons.

Opening Theme

In some episodes the traditional theme is different and sometimes has the cast singing. The accompanying music makes use of the rarely used boobams and tubular bells. People widey regard Pierre Henry's 1967 Psyché Rock to be of great influence for the theme, this tune can be heard on YouTube.
