Sal's friend is an unnamed character who's friends with Sal. They work together as ironworkers, but pass most of the time watching sensational Internet videos, such as Leela's singing butt boil. He is also a trucker, and has participated in the destruction derby.

With the release of the fifth volume DVD set, however, we finally learn his name. Or rather, it is mentioned in the commentary track for episode 503: Attack of the Killer App. His name is something along the lines of "Hoschel". The name is only mentioned as a piece of trivia and is hard to distinguish because several others on the commentary track are talking at the same time.

• Following his creation, the character is used whenever Sal is in a situation where he needs to be with a friend.
• Seems to be pretty lazy, just like Sal.
