Shazam is a mobile app that helps identify melodies. In 3013, Hermes sang it a melody that Nibbler's personal chauffeur had been constantly emitting, but, because Shazam could no longer stand Hermes' singing, it did not identify the melody and flew away in his cell phone. [7ACV23]

Production

Shazam was first seen in a selected animatic for 7ACV23, which had been released online by July 2013.

In the animatic, Shazam's response to Hermes was different and Bender used Shazam to identify a song of his.

Quotes

Fry: It's not "Walkin' on Sunshine". It's not "Foggy Mountain Breakdown". What else is there?
Hermes: I dunno... but I do have a friend who helps me identify melodies. [He grabs his cell phone.] [suggestively] His name is Shazam.
[The phone beeps twice and a circle appears on its screen.]
    Shazam. What song is this?
[Hermes clears his throat and sings the melody. The phone beeps twice again.]
Shazam: Your singing is awful! I can't take it any more!
    [The phone flies away.]

Hermes: Shazam. What song is this?
[Hermes clears his throat and sings the melody. The phone beeps twice again.]
Shazam: You sing too badly for Shazam to grant your request.
