Alternate name proposal

I suggest "Official Nerdlinger Foundation" or something with "Nerdlinger" in it. Why? Because "Nerdlinger" refers to Futurama fans in the same way that "Trekkie" refers to Star Trek fans. Although, it sounds way less professional, and the original name is probably better, so nevermind, but I still think we should use the word Nerdlinger as much as possible. --Buddy 12:23, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

The problem with "Futurama Media Foundation" is that it sounds a bit too official. I propose based on your suggestion that we could do "Nerdlinger Media Foundation" instead. While I understand that it should have its own place, I wonder why it's a wiki. What will it house? For a network hub, a wiki seems like an odd choice. Also, have you looked into getting it its own domain name? the subdomain is fine, but if it grows, it may get cumbersome, just as "futurama.overt-ops.com" did when the Infosphere grew. --Buddy 23:00, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

The subdomain is purely temporary. My idea is to modify the wiki software so that it will work like a network hub - sorta. It won't really be a wiki, but the underlying software between a wiki compared with say a message board software made the choice easy to pick. Sooner or later, you won't even know it is a wiki when I have begun customising it. The choice of wiki is purely for the sake of making it easy to distribute the articles. --Svip^Talk 07:39, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

In addition, I have actually been thinking of renaming it to the "FutureMedia Foundation". And I have a couple of reasons why; A) it is closer to the fact that I based the name on the "WikiMedia Foundation", "future", like "wiki", is two syllables. B) it gets rid of the word "Futurama", which may have some legal issues attached, C) and in addition to that, should the Foundation ever grow in size, that sites other than Futurama related sites wishes to be protected by the Foundation, the FMF can expand to focus on fan sites in general. With the R right after the T, how do you pronounce it? Is it still pronounced like the T in "future" (tʃ) or is it a hard T now. And does the U still say "yoo" or is it just "oo". Hmm. --Buddy 12:44, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
