Well, actually not like that. It's a great service for new members. But only do it for actual users. I have seen some of our members welcoming users before they have made a single edit. I will advise people to wait until the new user have edited a page or two before welcoming them, because then we can be certain that they are actually interested in participating and not just spambots or otherwise.
