Discussion

I'd like to raise the possibility of instituting credits pages for the episodes and films. We already have small credits sections in each episode page, but I think we could do with having full pages devoted to who was involved in each episode. It could be like we do with transcripts with "Transcript:Episode", except it would be "Credits:Episode" (Captain Obvious, I know). As an example, I set up a sandbox page with the Space Pilot 3000 credits; in this case, I just copied the beginning and end credits straight from the episode, but it wouldn't necessarily have to be like that. Thoughts? -- DeepSpaceHomer 03:05, 3 June 2011 (CEST)

I'd probably say yes, I just want to know what your reasoning is for proposing this. Is it just to help with things like crew pages or is there a deeper issue you want to resolve? Teyrn of Highever 03:21, 3 June 2011 (CEST)
Well, it is mostly about the crew pages. It can be easier to identify which person is in which episode if they are linked to that episode's namespace. But there's also a bit of guilt in it on my part; there are a lot of people who have worked on the show who aren't on the website, and I kinda feel like they should be acknowledged for the episodes they worked on. -- DeepSpaceHomer 03:29, 3 June 2011 (CEST)
Makes sense. Teyrn of Highever 03:34, 3 June 2011 (CEST)
I suppose this is an obvious thing to say, but it wouldn't be necessary to fill in credits pages all at once. We could just create the namespace and they can be filled in at peoples' leisure. -- DeepSpaceHomer 14:55, 3 June 2011 (CEST)
Also, if I might explain my inspiration for this idea, our future alliance partners at Wikisimpsons post credits pages for their episodes; see "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" as an example. -- DeepSpaceHomer 20:06, 3 June 2011 (CEST)
It's a good idea in my opinion, but we're going to need to hear what the other administrators have to say. I imagine the namespace will have to be set up and have no clue how such a thing is done. Sanfazer 00:56, 4 June 2011 (CEST)
Oh, I agree completely. I wouldn't want to impose any undue burdens on the fine folks who keep this place safe from people like me. -- DeepSpaceHomer 01:14, 4 June 2011 (CEST)
You know it!!
Nah, I'm kidding. You're a wonderful man. Sanfazer 01:28, 4 June 2011 (CEST)
I'm for it. I've always wanted to see every single person in the credits having their own page. And I think this is a great way to do it. It would also make it easier to have a copmrehensive list of what each crew member has done (i.e., director on seven eps, writer on five, et cetera). --Buddy 23:04, 4 June 2011 (CEST)
I agree completely with Buddy. I've always liked the idea of having the Infosphere as complete as possible, even with minor characters and crew members, and, as Buddy said, this is a great way of achieving that. Good idea, mr Deep Space. - akitalk 16:06, 6 June 2011 (CEST)
Well, thank you very much. You've just fed an ego the likes of which the world hasn't seen since Ozymandias. Or Bender. -- DeepSpaceHomer 21:24, 6 June 2011 (CEST)
