The Purple Tentacle Award is awarded to people who are considered Heroes. One of them was given to Zapp Brannigan after he saved Private Carroll's life in an unknown battle. It turned out that Zapp was lying, and he actually knocked out Private Carroll and hid under his body as the enemy passed by. However, Zapp then decided to give the Award to the Private, and told the public that Carroll was actually the one who saved him from the enemy.
