The Galactic Entity, otherwise known as the "God" space entity, is user-friendly and thinks in binary. It "seems probable" that the entity is the remains of a computerised space probe that collided with God. It mostly tunes out praying, and is not omniscient, but is quite powerful. Bender may be the only one to know of the Entity's true existence (with the possible exception of a few monks whose telescope was pointed at it) and is the only being known to have actually met him.

He is also apparently the keeper of the time sphere, which is accessed by saying aloud a certain binary code. This apparently runs a program on the Galactic Entity, causing it to transport a time sphere to the code-speaker's location. This may be why the Entity was speaking in binary when Bender first encountered him.

Trivia

  • Thinking in binary and the remains of a computerised space probe that collided with God references the first Star Trek movie, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, in which a massive and powerful, albeit emotionally immature alien intelligence, V'Ger, was found to be human technology, Voyager 6, that had been found, modified with extremely advanced technology, and sent back. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier also has the concept of a being godlike in power that is nonetheless not God as humans conceive of it, i.e. not the creator of the universe, nor in fact good.

Quotes

Galactic Entity: When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Galactic Entity: Possible. I am user-friendly, my good chum.

Galactic Entity: You have to use a light touch, like a safe cracker or a pick-pocket.
Bender: Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money.
Galactic Entity: Right, if you make it look like an electrical thing.

Galactic Entity: Huh? [summons time sphere]
