The tale of Fry's past is a story arc on Futurama. The story itself is highly complex, as Fry himself realise very little about what is happening to him.

Tale

Fry grew up in Old New York with his parents and his brother. He often fought with his brother. One time he found a seven-leaf clover, which he gave Fry an incredible amount of luck and he was capable of beating his brother in many tasks. After Fry got frozen in 1999, Yancy found the clover and give it to his son, Philip J. Fry II, who was named in Fry's honour.

In 1999, the Nibblonians knew that Fry lacked the Delta brainwave. In addition to that, they foresaw the conclusion of the Brainspawn's Infosphere, and knew that only Fry, due to his lack of the Delta brainwave, was the only one who could save the universe against the Brainspawn's destruction of the universe.

Unfortunately, that conclusion was to occur sometime in 3002, and Philip J. Fry would not be able to live that long. As a result, the Nibblonians decided to freeze down Fry against his will for a thousand years on 31 December 1999.

However, the reason for Fry's lack of the delta brain wave occurs in 1947, though happens later for Fry. In 1947, Fry accidentally kills who he thought to be his grandfather, Enos Fry, and at the same time impregnates Mildred Fry, his grandmother, effectively giving birth to his father.

When Fry discovered what the Nibblonians had done to him inside the Infosphere, he decided to travel back in time to change history. However, Nibbler at Applied Cryogenics convinced Fry to stay in the future (where Nibbler off handed mentioned "the other"), where he a thousand year successfully destroyed the Infosphere.
