Helmut Spargle was once a famous TV chef and host of Down-Home Cooking With Helmut Spargle. After the extreme soda company that sponsored his show replaced him with his former student Elzar, he wound up at Bumbase Alpha baking pies out of shoes for hobos. He began teaching Bender to cook in order to seek revenge against Elzar, but when Spargle ate Bender's food, he died after his stomach exploded.
