Template talk:Episode infobox

From The Infosphere, the Futurama Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Let me justify something in my version of the infobox. First of all, the other version relies on {{PAGENAME}} to get the name of the episode, while mine relies on user input. Mine is common Wiki practice, you want complete control over the information in your templates, and not having it rely on information systems can get. In turn some article's name could be incorrect in what you want on the template... for any reason.

Secondly, mine relies on the user typing the entire image link themselves, this is because in case of lack of image, or no need for an image, it would be smarter to be able to write "no image" or something. Or suppose the image needed different options than the usual one, this also give a lot more options.

As for using lowercase, that is because that is good Wiki practice. See all Wikipedia's templates, they do the exact same... Remember, I base most of my things on Wikipedia, because I think Wikipedia does a very nice job. --SvipTalk 03:51, 20 April 2007 (PDT)

Variable proposals

This section is for variable proposal. If you are not sure what a variable is then take next ep or name, they are variables. When suggestion please state if you wish for them to be optional or not. Basically, with optional variables, we can do anything! Even if it only applies to very few episodes. :D --SvipTalk 12:52, 25 November 2007 (PST)

caption / image text

Did the episode infobox had {{{caption}}} (image text) before? — TheFry23:49, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

I've just checked and no, it didn't. — TheFry01:22, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Nope, I believe Svip was referring to its presence in the base template. - Quolnok 10:23, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, {{infobox}} has a {{{caption}}} support. --Sviptalk 11:06, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia articles

Seeing as all episodes should have an article on Wikipedia, is it an idea to include a "read more on Wikipedia" link by default on this wiki? - akitalk 13:36, 26 May 2011 (CEST)

Not by default. (Until a couple of weeks ago, Wikipedia didn't have articles for the new episodes.) But we could include what's on, for example, the Group infobox template. "Wikipedia has information unrelated to Futurama". Sanfazer 21:09, 26 May 2011 (CEST)
Why not by default? Wikipedia does extremely seldom not have an article on an episode. - akitalk 23:12, 26 May 2011 (CEST)
For the episode, comic and game articles there shouldn't need to be such a thing as all information would be Futurama related, it should be here. Groups, cast, crew and character pages are different. - Quolnok 14:15, 27 May 2011 (CEST)
You're right, you're right. Silly of me to suggest the "unrelated to Futurama" thing. Sanfazer 19:45, 27 May 2011 (CEST)
They don't have articles on any of the 26 episodes of Season 7. Sanfazer 19:45, 27 May 2011 (CEST)

Apostrophes to quotation marks

I think that ''{{{name}}}'' should be changed to "{{{name}}}". How do you guys feel about this? Sanfazer (talk) 20:12, 9 February 2012 (CET)
