It has long been an annoyance to me, that we use Google Analytics to analyse the visitors to this place. It is first and foremost ideological rather than pragmatic. But I am also pragmatic, which is why I have kept using Google Analytics for so long. But now - finally - I have found an alternative; Piwik. Piwik is an open source Web Analytics tool, that unlike Google Analytics is installed on the server rather than far away at Google themselves.

This means that the data collected will only be accessible by me. Soon I will turn off the Google Analytics entirely and only Piwik will be used.

The problem with Google Analytics is the sense of giving data to Google. I don't really like that idea. So I will - along with this website - be converting my websites to using Piwik rather than Google Analytics.

I just thought I should let you all know, even though this will create almost no difference to the user experience. --Sviptalk 16:48, 14 May 2012 (CEST)

Pwiki would be much funnier. Sanfazer (talk) 18:56, 14 May 2012 (CEST).
