[Past killed, it's always in the history if you want to re-read it. It's pretty much settled and implemented now.]

We need to figure out how to organize things.
[Gopher]
I was thinking about something. The {working} tag is great, but if you're working on a wanted
page, you should immediately save the page with just { working} in it, so we don't wind up
writing 2 versions of the same page at once. Not likely, but JIC.
Also, we should put together a page containing all these rules for structure and formatting of
articles, and have it linked from main. Contribution Guidelines, or Style Guidelines, something
to that effect in any case.

Our root categories so far are Characters, Planets, Organizations, and Episodes. There are subcategories under Characters for Aliens, Robots, and Humans.
{{User:Buddy13/sig}}: Go ahead and write something at [[FuturamaWiki:Policies]], and link it to the main page (I've protected the main page from editing, but I think your sysop status allows you to edit it anyway - if not, let me know).

I'm not sure I understand the value of adding the Species category... If anything, we need something to differentiate an alien from an alien species. Perhaps make Species a sibling of Characters, and it includes articles on entire races (Neptunians, Slurm Worms, Etc) instead of those being sub-categories of "Aliens" as they are now, then "Aliens" would contain only the specific characters? Readers could still get a list of aliens of a given species by going to the species' page.

How about this hierarchy?<br\>
Characters
  Aliens
    Slurms MacKinzie
    Elzar
    etc.
  Robots
    Bender
    Robot Devil
    etc.
  Humans
    Fry
    Leela
    etc.
Alien Species
  Neptunians
  Omicronians
  etc.
Places
  Companies
    Planet Express
    Robot Arms
    etc
  Bureaucracies
    DOOP
    The Central Bureauracy
  Planets
    Earth
    The Neutral Planet
    etc.
Technology
Farnsworth's Inventions (There's enough of these for their own category)
    Smell-O-Scope
    etc.
  Ships
    PE Ship
    Nimbus
    etc.
  Gadgets
    Wristlojackimator
    Suicide Booths
  Products
    Slurm
    Bachelor Chow
Misc
  Brannigan's Law
  Sexlexia
  Alien Languages
  etc...
Media
  Episodes
  Comics
  Possib. Fan scripts even?
Merchandise
  DVD collections
  Action Figures
  Games

How's this sound? I can't think of anything that couldn't be placed logically in that hierarchy, but tell me what you think. Anything missing, or that wouldn't fit? If we don't decide on our categories now, it'll be a real pain in the butt to change them all later so we should make this decision soon.

{{User:Buddy13/sig}} I like what you did mostly. I only disagree with "Places" as it adds unnecessary depth. I think we should stick with "Organizations" since that can cover everything, like Doop, the political parties (Tastycrats and Fingerlicans), and Planet Express, Mom Corp, etc. And planets in their own category.<br />
Additionally, I think "Farnsworth's Inventions" shoud be "Farnsworth's Creations" since I'm not sure you can count atomic supermen and yelling albino gorillas as "inventions"<br />
What do you think?<br />
<later> Actually, with Robot Arms, maybe a "Places" really does need to be there, but I still think "organizations" should be separate. IMO.

[Gopher] How about this to replace the previous "Places" hierarchy

Organizations (by itself)

Places
  Planets

Things like the Robot Arms Apts could just be under Places, while Earth is a Place and a Planet. Planets definately need to be grouped, but I know there will be a lot of places that aren't planets OR organizations.

Once we nail this down we should make a page showing this hierarcy, linked to each category page, and put it on the main page.

{{User:Buddy13/sig}} I think that looks good. New New York, the Sewers, and the decaying ruins of Old New York could also be non-planet places.
I think we can call that final, you?
