Stadt is the German word for city. Therefore Thermostadt is a wordplay with Robo-Hungarian Empire and Thermostat. The setting of the Robo-Hungarian Empire refers to the 19th century were Hungary was part of the Austria-Hungary Empire, were the official language was German.
