Where did the code come from in the first place?!

Well, as mentioned in the article, it was originally supposed to be a lottery number. But since it had to be believable that Fry could read it in the mirror, it had to be mirrored. So its original meaning was lost, but the code was simply created from increasing from 1 to 6 in binary.
