Discussion

So, it occurs to me that the MediaWiki developers are pushing for a new skin, that they hope will become default on all WikiMedia sites (including Wikipedia). This new skin is called "Vector", it is very minimalistic and simplistic.

Now I am not saying we should scrap all we got and move over to that, but I am intrigued. And I am considering making a - somewhat similar - skin to this new skin. Though, I will also maintain a focus on simplicity like the skin's ideal is.

A problem with a dark blue background is that you can't do a white foreground. Such big contrasts do not work. Unfortunately, I am beginning to become a little less appealed by the whole light blue foreground, so I might go... darker. Anyway, these are just considerations.

You can see the vector skin at the Usability Initiative Wiki or at Wikipedia itself (just remember to turn any skin altering settings off you may have). Another advantage of a different skin is that people can still use the old Monobook skin while we work on the new one. --SvipTalk 14:34, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
