:I have set up a preview version of the new wiki - as well as a new version - here: http://new.theinfosphere.org/ Though, settings may conflict with the settings of the regular wiki. Discussion
So, it occurs to me that the MediaWiki developers are pushing for a new skin, that they hope will become default on all WikiMedia sites (including Wikipedia). This new skin is called "Vector", it is very minimalistic and simplistic.
Now I am not saying we should scrap all we got and move over to that, but I am intrigued. And I am considering making a - somewhat similar - skin to this new skin. Though, I will also maintain a focus on simplicity like the skin's ideal is.
A problem with a dark blue background is that you can't do a white foreground. Such big contrasts do not work. Unfortunately, I am beginning to become a little less appealed by the whole light blue foreground, so I might go... darker. Anyway, these are just considerations.
