Josh Gedgie was a self-described evil nerd, who stole Philip J. Fry's idea of using the common cold for an entry to win the Nerd Search '88 Science Competition, which he ultimately won. Despite being Fry's main rival at the competition, Fry would eventually be glad that it was Gedgie's experiment and not his that won the competition.
