This article is about the real person. For the Futurama character, see Gary Gygax (character).

Ernest Gary Gygax was the original creator of Dungeons and Dragons and is generally considered the father of modern role-playing games. He died on 4 March, 2008, and so the film Bender's Game, in which the Geysers of Gygax were named in his honour, was dedicated to him. He was also referenced in "Fry Am the Egg Man", when Farnsworth opens the Gygaxicon.

Gygax in Futurama

In a What-If, he joined Al Gore's Vice Presidential Action Rangers and attempted to fix Fry's hole in space and time (2ACV16). After he gave Fry his weapon which led to Fry destroying the Cryogenic Freezer Tube and the destruction of the Universe. He spent the rest of his time playing Dungeons and Dragons with Fry and the other Action Rangers.
