The relationship between Philip J. Fry and Turanga Leela is a recurring theme on Futurama.

Development

It can be debated whether the initial beginnings of this relationship started in "Space Pilot 3000" or "A Flight to Remember". But there is a certainly a difference, in the first episode, Fry is immediately interested in Leela, while in the latter episode, Fry and Leela actually kiss for the first time, which may indeed have sparked Leela as a love interest for Fry.

Cause the relationship is indeed one-sided throughout the show, with Fry's fruitless attempts at winning Leela's heart, save perhaps once in "Time Keeps on Slippin'", where he manages to get her to marry him, but unfortunately time skips past what he did to make her love him.

While Fry never manage to get Leela's affection during the original run, in "The Farnsworth Parabox", they see what their lives would have been if they got married. In an alternate universe, "Universe 1", Fry-1 and Leela-1 have apparently married at least year prior to Fry-A and Leela-A's arrival.

In Bender's Big Score, Leela's love interest becomes Lars Fillmore, whom she claims to Fry is "the only man she could ever love". But when she realises Lars was actually Fry's time paradox duplicate, her statement seems somewhat disputed.

And it is not until the very end at Into the Wild Green Yonder, that Leela finally returns Fry's affection, and truthfully kisses him.
