The Forward time machine was a time machine invented by Professor Farnsworth. It is able to go forwards in time, but is unable to travel backwards. The Professor, along with Fry and Bender were originally supposed to test drive it by going forward one minute. However, they accidentally ended up going forward 6 990 years. They are forced to use the machine to keep on going forward to find a backwards time machine, but ultimately end up at the end of all life.
The three of them find out that time works like a Möbius strip: when the universe ends, the Big Bang occurs and a completely identical universe is created. They use the machine to travel forward to the year 3010, but miss it. Finally, after time traveling the entire length of the universe's existence again, the machine makes it "back" to 3010.

- Due to a time paradox, there are now two Forward time machines.
- Technically, there should be three- the first machine missed 3010, allowing the Fry, Professor and Bender of that 3010 to use their forward time machine, and the third one is the one whose Fry, Professor and Bender were crushed by the first machine.
- This creates a further paradox, because it means there's a second Fry, Professor and Bender somewhere in time.
- And there's an answer for this as well- the second time machine (with the second Fry, Professor and Bender) probably missed the 3010 that the first one stopped at and went around to a fourth 3010, crushing that Fry, Professor and Bender, ending the cycle and leaving us with two machines and one Fry, Professor and Bender in the third 3010 and two machines and one Fry, Professor and Bender in the fourth 3010.
- Basically:
- 1st machine- leaves 1st 3010, misses 2nd 3010, arrives 3rd 3010
- 2nd machine- leaves 2nd 3010, misses 3rd 3010, arrives 4th 3010
- 3rd machine- never leaves 3rd 3010 because crew is crushed by 1st machine
- 4th machine- never leaves 4th 3010 because crew is crushed by 2nd machine
