It seems nobody got arount to setting a featured article on this particular fortnight. Do we have one ready to go? --Buddy (talk) 21:14, 19 August 2012 (CEST)

Didn't Quolnok have a script to just use the previous year's featured article if that happened? --Sviptalk 21:21, 19 August 2012 (CEST)
Yep, and that's still in play, but there wasn't one for this fortnight last year either. I originally had them pointing back to 2009 regardless of what year it is since I know 2009 has all fortnights filled in correctly. I've pointed it back to the 2010 one. Script might need some tweaking. - Quolnok (talk) 03:07, 20 August 2012 (CEST)
Seriously, we need a system to make sure we don't rely so heavily on reprises. For a while, it was just me and Sanfazer, but then I kinda forgot about it. How can we get more nominations?
For quite a while I was the only one nominating and creating features. There were occasional votes. Should we consider dropping back to monthly? That needs less nominations. - Quolnok (talk) 01:42, 21 August 2012 (CEST)
Well, that depends. On one hand, you're right, that does require much less nominations, and it takes less votes to keep it up. On the other hand, we have more than enough articles to keep up fortnights, and it seems like a bit of a cop-out when we could come up with a system to get more people to vote.Kif (talk) 01:53, 21 August 2012 (CEST)
Well, in any case, I've knocked up a loop based version of the defaulting feature template (User:Quolnok/featureloop) since recursion isn't allowed. However this needs the loops and variables extensions to be installed. - Quolnok (talk) 07:01, 26 August 2012 (CEST)
I'll be honest; I have no idea what that means. But if it'll do something about the problem, then I can live with it. Kif (talk) 16:15, 26 August 2012 (CEST)
Well, if the extensions get installed, that version will attempt to show the current feature, if it fails (which it currently does, as we've hit the next fortnight again) it would try to show the feature for the most recent year counting down to 2009. - Quolnok (talk) 02:21, 27 August 2012 (CEST)
I added those two extensions. See Version. --Sviptalk 15:17, 27 August 2012 (CEST)
Nice. I've given it a test and pushed the new one live on the main page. - Quolnok (talk) 15:58, 28 August 2012 (CEST)
