A feature in MediaWiki is called "hidden categories". This feature is also well used on Wikipedia. The concept of this feature is to hide certain categories, that are not that interesting from the article's point of view, but is interesting for a categorising point of view.

While it is mainly for maintenance categories, it can also be used to allow many more categories per article. Because I am beginning to think of a new set of categories – and you will agree it will be many. For each episode, film or comic article (as well as the game), it will contain categories for each character in this particular episode, film or comic. I propose individual categories for each type of media; "Episodes with <character>", "Films with <character>", "Comics with <character>" and "Other media with <character>" (the latter includes the game).

Now, you may think: "Boy, that's a lot of categories, and a lot of work too", but I am thinking of writing my bot so that it can handle this particular issue. In addition, we will probably use a template for this purpose as well. Anyway, I want to ask for some feedback before hand (also, character infoboxes will also include a link to these categories). --Svip 10:51, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

I had actually been considering something like this, but as I was unaware of hidden categories I thought it would be a little much. This way is good. Other = game, calendar, action figures? - Quolnok 11:04, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I felt "interactive media" was a little much for a category as it would only contain a single article. Heh. :P --Svip 11:05, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Since it doesn't actually matter where in the article a category tag is, why not incorporate them right into the character lists for each episode/comic/movie? I assume that would be relatively easy for a bot... --Buddy 22:38, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Seems logical to me. Makes it easier for the new episodes and comics that haven't got the lists yet. - Quolnok 11:10, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
